Halo-Halo is a Filipino Dessert All About the Mixing

While Filipino halo-halo is stunning to stare at, the fun lies in the mixing. Tagalog for “mix-mix,” halo-halo is a sweet and savory hodgepodge of beans, fruit, sweetened condensed milk and shaved ice. Colorful contents may include boiled, sweetened kidney beans, garbanzos, fruit, tapioca, purple yam and more.
